At Millhouse Clinics Alvechurch, our story isn’t just about aesthetics. It’s about people, relationships, resilience and a shared commitment to helping others feel their best.
Every clinic has treatments, equipment and products. What makes a clinic truly special is the people behind it and the values that guide everything they do.
Our journey has been shaped by decades of experience, personal challenges, lifelong learning, and an unwavering belief that exceptional results come from combining clinical expertise with genuine care.
This is our story.
Michelle’s Journey
Michelle’s career in healthcare began shortly after leaving school when she moved to London to train as a nurse. Living with her aunt, who was also a nurse, she quickly embraced the profession and developed the skills, compassion and resilience that would shape the rest of her career.
After qualifying, Michelle returned to Birmingham and settled in Alvechurch with her school sweetheart and husband, Micky. Together they built a life based on hard work, determination and supporting one another’s ambitions.
Micky was Michelle’s biggest supporter and champion. With his encouragement, she established her own healthcare business and later opened a residential care home. Managing the care home introduced Michelle to the complexities of caring for an ageing population, with residents requiring a wide range of physical, emotional and social support. She thrived in the role.
Michelle loved getting to know her residents and their families. She found enormous satisfaction in helping people maintain dignity, independence, and quality of life. Those years taught her invaluable lessons about empathy, communication, and the importance of seeing the individual behind every patient.
After many successful years in healthcare, Michelle and Micky decided to step away from work and fulfil a dream they had long shared: travelling the world together.
For two years they explored Australia, living out of a camper van, embracing adventure, and making memories. They travelled thousands of miles, experienced extraordinary landscapes, met incredible people and even parachuted from one of the highest jump points.
It was a chapter of freedom, discovery, and joy.
Micky was diagnosed with cancer and sadly died at the age of just 45.
For Michelle, losing her husband meant losing the person who had been by her side since school. Her partner, her best friend, her supporter and her greatest advocate.
She speaks openly about grief because she understands how many people experience profound loss yet feel unable to discuss it. She will tell you honestly that losing Micky changed her forever. It wasn’t something to get over; it was something she learned to carry while finding a way to move forward.
Eventually, Michelle realised she needed to build a new life.
A new opportunity emerged when she was offered training and work as a laser practitioner. What initially seemed like a change in direction soon became a true passion.
Michelle discovered the fascinating world of laser treatments, skin health and advanced aesthetics. She immersed herself in learning. attended courses, completed qualifications, invested in technology and dedicated herself to understanding skin at the deepest level. Her natural curiosity and commitment to excellence drove her to continually expand her knowledge.
More than sixteen years later, Michelle remains our go-to expert for all things skin and laser related.
Whether discussing pigmentation, acne scarring, vascular concerns, skin rejuvenation, or the latest advances in energy-based devices, Michelle combines extensive experience with a genuine enthusiasm for helping clients achieve healthier skin.
Her journey has taught her that confidence isn’t vanity. It’s about feeling comfortable in your own skin. It’s about helping people look like the best version of themselves while maintaining realistic expectations and safe, ethical practice.
Sharon’s Journey
Sharon’s route into healthcare was very different. Her first love was books. An avid reader with a passion for learning, she initially built a career as an editor of non-fiction books. Working in publishing allowed her to indulge her curiosity and develop a keen eye for detail, skills that continue to serve her well today.
After becoming pregnant, Sharon found herself reflecting on what she wanted from her future career. Like Michelle, she was drawn towards helping people.
She retrained as a nurse and quickly discovered a profession that felt deeply rewarding and meaningful.
Throughout her nursing education, Sharon developed a particular interest in sexuality and it’s impact on healthcare. Her dedication to this area earned her a grant from the Royal College of Nursing, allowing her to explore different cultural perspectives and healthcare practices.
This opportunity took her to the Kerala Institute of Medical Sciences in South India, where she gained invaluable insight into healthcare delivery within a very different cultural and social environment. The experience broadened her perspective and reinforced the importance of treating every individual with dignity, respect, and understanding.
After qualifying, Sharon worked across several specialist areas, including cosmetic surgery, plastic surgery and burns theatres.
While theatre work was highly skilled and rewarding, patient contact was often brief. Sharon would meet patients on the day of surgery and may never see them again. She wanted to build longer-lasting relationships with patients. That desire eventually led her into aesthetics. Aesthetic medicine offered something unique.
Instead of seeing patients for a single procedure, Sharon could accompany them on a longer journey. She could help them develop treatment plans, monitor progress over time and support their goals over months and years.
The relationships became deeper and the outcomes became more meaningful. Aesthetics also appealed because it is one of the most dynamic and rapidly evolving areas of healthcare. New research constantly emerges. New products are developed. Techniques evolve. Protocols change. Evidence grows. For Sharon, continuous learning is one of the most exciting aspects of the profession.
As her nursing career progressed, Sharon dealt with her much-loved Mother’s decline with dementia. Sharon has been anticipating her Mum’s death for ten years. The grief when her Mum died in March this year was completely different to the grief Michelle experienced when she lost her husband.
Sharon’s family are from Galway, a place that she returns to yearly to mentally rejuvenate. This year she will be returning with her Mum’s ashes on her final journey home.
How We Came Together
Michelle and Sharon first met around fifteen years ago. From the beginning, they recognised a shared philosophy. Both believed in putting patients first. Both valued education and continual improvement. Both cared deeply about delivering natural results and maintaining high clinical standards.
Over the years they worked side by side, learning from one another and sharing knowledge, while technically operating their own independent businesses. The professional relationship developed into a friendship built on mutual respect and trust.
Together they attended courses, discussed complex cases, reviewed treatment outcomes and explored the latest advances in aesthetics.
As the years passed, they discovered something important. Their skills complemented each other perfectly. Michelle’s expertise in skin health, lasers and energy-based treatments combined seamlessly with Sharon’s experience in injectables, anatomy and facial rejuvenation. The combination consistently delivered outstanding results for clients.
Rather than viewing treatments in isolation, they began approaching aesthetics holistically. Healthy skin enhances injectable outcomes. Injectables can support skin treatments. Medical-grade skincare strengthens and prolongs results. Each element works best when integrated into a carefully considered treatment plan. This philosophy became the foundation of Millhouse Clinics.
On 29th June 2024, Millhouse Clinics Alvechurch opened and once again the duo worked alongside each other until this year in the clinic until December 2025 when they officially joined to own the clinic together.
While the clinic itself is relatively new, the partnership behind it is built on more than fifteen years of collaboration, friendship and shared experience.
The Values That Drive Us
Our shared values extend beyond aesthetics.
Michelle’s and Sharon’s family both originate from Galway, on the west coast of Ireland. We share a love of family, friendship, music, theatre, good conversation, laughing frequently and making the most of life.
We offer realistic expectations. It means sometimes saying “no” when a treatment isn’t appropriate.
Our Vision for the Future
We love our clinic in Alvechurch and we are in this for the long game. Our goal isn’t simply to perform treatments. Our goal is to create a clinic where people feel welcomed, supported, educated and cared for.
